FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SAADIA ALI ASCHEMANN’S THIRD VOLUME OF POETRY, VICE & VERSE, IS RELEASED DURING NATIONAL POETRY MONTH Award Winning Poet is looking forward to promoting her third book.
QUINCY, IL – April 2010– What happens when a suburban wife and mother of two explores thoughts and ideas that are decidedly provocative? Award winning poet, Saadia Ali Aschemann, answers questions like this and more in Vice & Verse (Firefly Publishing, $14.00), a collection of eighty (80) poems that explore different styles, forms and themes. Vice & Verse is the third volume of relevant observations and interpretations of the way we live our lives today.  Saadia not only draws the reader into her poems through contemporary themes, but also gently guides the reader through sonnet structure and haiku habits. Saadia muses about attraction, a lover’s inattentiveness, sin, seduction and the curious habits of children lost in play. Along the way, she throws back the curtain and lets the reader see the magic behind her work with exquisite explanations of poetic form that accompany many of her entries.  Saadia is the recipient of the Preditors & Editors “Best Poet” award as well as a finalist for Southern Illinois University’s Devil’s Kitchen Reading award.
Saadia’s newest volume of poetry, Vice & Verse, is nothing short of a burning and furious romance with words and daily life. She writes about home, insomnia and conversation. Saadia manages to capture thoughts that flash through her mind after updating her twitter feed but before running car pool for her children. Vice & Verse is a deliciously mature x-ray of the soul of today’s woman. Mother, daughter, wife and author, Saadia shares her deepest insights with regard to the world around her with a growing readership.  Singer and songwriter, Garland Jeffreys says of Saadia’s mix of vice and verse, “her words make me feel like I’m an immediate inhabitant of her world. I like the feeling and want more. She teaches and takes me to a place I want to go.”  Kevin Doyle, bestselling author, exclaims, “Finally! A third volume from provocative Saadia…as usual, a superior example of bold, daring American womanhood.”   Saadia Ali Aschemann is a member of the adjunct faculty at Culver-Stockton college where she teaches Fundamentals of Speech.  She received her undergraduate degree from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia and her masters degree in education from the University of Illinois.   Her first collection of poetry, lavish lines/luscious lies was released by Firefly Publishing in 2007.  Her second volume, Words Gone Wild, was presented to her eager public in 2008.  She is currently working on a novel and plans to promote her work at BookExpo America in New York City next month. Saadia’s books are available online and at nationwide retailers.Locally, Vice & Verse is carried by Great Debate Books and Waldenbooks.
